Dear Friend,

Currently, small, non-profit organizations like ours face unprecedented challenges as funding streams are being depleted.  As a literary organization, we are targeted for financial reductions. Grants that we have previously relied on are no longer being funded, and those that remain have received more than double the number of applications. And though what we do is inherently crucial, our focus on Caribbean literature makes us a [niche faction] in a field more desperate for support than ever.

Simply put, the Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival’s budget has taken a huge hit, and we need support from community members like you to ensure that the Festival will take place this September.

So, we write to you now, like never before, with a plea for financial support. Your contribution today would go a long way in providing the quality programming you’ve come to expect from us. Through your support, you will power the programming that brings Caribbean writers and their important literary projects to the doorstep of Brooklyn.

Last year, Sir Hilary Beckles, Edwidge Danticat, Lorna Goodison, Tiphanie Yanique, Roxane Gay, and Angie Cruz, along with thirty-five other brilliant writers, shared their works, engaged in illuminating conversations, and showcased the richness of Caribbean literature throughout Brooklyn. This year, we’ve planned so much more but we can only do that with your help.

DONATE NOW to continue championing these vital and luminary Caribbean voices in 2025.

Please take this opportunity to support Caribbean literature in Brooklyn.

Thank you,

 The Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival
