Nation Language: Prose, Poetry and Sound

This year, the festival is dedicated to the memories of literary giants, Kamau Brathwaite and Paule Marshall, both of whom coincidentally are Caribbean by wayof Barbados. Our theme is Nation Language: Prose, Poetry and Sound. Brathwaite and Marshall dedicated their entire lives to the radical adoption of Caribbean language and its liberal incorporation into our canon.

Therefore, there’s an especial thrust on our part to feature stories that wrestle with the ideas of language, identity, Home, and belonging; full bodies stories bursting with the linguistic patterns, speech, and rhythm of Caribbean tongues.
